Of course, these days you can get ankle braces and as someon above said, arch supports - which should help. Although if your short sprints are working, that might be the best and most natural way to go. But I did roll my ankle a couple of weeks ago on an uneven, grassy surface. It gave me a terrible fright but when I tested it and started walking on it, I wasn't even limping! I think you only really hurt your ankle when you are on a perfectly even surface. Something about the unexpectedness of it all perhaps.
