midnight scamperings

Jasmine has never been a big fan of housework and since we moved into this tiny terrace house I haven’t worried about that, since I spent the previous 7 years living with a man who actively resisted having a clean or tidy house. So I was just lovin’ the option of living at my own standards. And, other than cooking, I don’t mind housework all that much. Love hanging out the washing, for instance. I don’t know what’s so fabulous about it but there it is.

Suddenly she has found inspiration. She is up most of the night so I go to bed lately with the house in a certain state, and wake up to find the bath and shower screen sparkling, the inside of the microwave spatter-free, the dishes washed, the floor vacuumed. And the next night she finds more to flabbergast me with. It’s like being the shoemaker and having elves. I have had a cold and she keeps on bringing me honey lemon drinks. I must have trained her well . . .

  1. How lovely. :)

    How old is she?

  2. She sounds wonderful and will always be welcome to stay here if she likes or maybe she could simply come and train my two.

  3. When she’s done at your place, send her over here ;) :P

  4. Lightening, lovely is right. And she’s 25, so I guess it’s not all that amazing. Twenty-five-year-olds are supposed to be able to look after houses and she has had houses (or flats) of her own to look after in the past but she avoids that situation if at all possible.

Debs, an invitation from Jersey? Be careful what you wish for. But, yes, she is wonderful. (Naturally, considering the genes.)

And Jayne, goodness isn’t she popular? And not so far to go in this instance. She could train Feral Beast, and she would love that.

  5. So I only have 13 years to wait then?

  6. Oooo

    enjoy!!

That sounds like bliss. Although I gots to say I was pleasantly surprised last night to get home from hospital to find everyone fed, kitchen tidied and cake iced. Still elves would be great!

  7. Jeanie, you could just wait, or you could take some tips from Frogdancer here: http://www.dancingwithfrogs.com/2008/05/23/a-blog-recommendation/ who seems to be getting this kind of behaviour from teenage boys. Genius! Alternatively, attempt to chop off your foot with an axe and see if you can get a sympathy elf-work response. Might seem extreme, but it works for Bettina. *cringe* Good one Bettina!
